Figurative work has long been one of the most vaunted techniques in the world of art. However, because of a modernistic focus on design this style has sadly passed out of vogue. My goal as an artist is to bring the human figure into an updated context while maintaining classic standards of proportion and accurate depiction. By doing this, I can highlight the beauty and power that the figure represents completely on its own. The body of a man or woman can reveal as much about all of us as it can about them. The nude body is a medium through which honesty and universal sentiment can be easily conveyed. It gives us a subject that we can depict without gilding the lily, without unnecessary decoration and distraction.
